This is the perfect time to upgrade to a mechanical Bosch pump and get rid of the dreadful Lucas Epic system.

Budget around £100 for a Bosch pump, injector lines & injectors, belt and tensioner kit should be around £40-£50, i'd definately change the waterpump too, maybe another £30.

Swap takes about 3 hours if you take your time and take plenty of photos on your camera/phone so you know where everything goes.

Looks like a big job but it's incredibly easy.

And once you've got a Bosch you can run on veg oil, so the swap even pays for itself!

The pump will run fine, you'll lose a fraction of power if you run veg, but not enough to be overly noticeable. (i haven't pump pump fuel in my 2.1 since i got it!)

If you use fresh veg off the shelf it smells like popcorn, it's only when you run on used oil that you get the stink. £1/L and smelling like popcorn works for me ;)

You'll need a fully mechanical Bosch pump, not one from a 406, if it's got any wires from under the injector outlet and on top of the throttle arm, it's not suitable. Stuff like the 306 has a suitable pump.

You can use the bosch injector lines and bosch injectors from the 1.9 though, but you won't need to plug the needle lift sensor into anything when you fit them to the 2.1 engine as it doesn't have that system.

Ideal. Get the cover off and run a switched 12v live to the stop solenoid.

Also, move the pump studs over to the next set of holes (Lucas and Bosch time up differently)
