Well I've had my D8 1.9td estate for exactly a year now, and Monday was its test. After having spent the weekend replacing ball joint, washers, wipers, lower arms etc etc I put it into the garage and......
........ can you feel the suspense??????.........
ITS FOOKIN PASSED
Consequently I'm going to be starting a new thread in the basement as I have a lot I want to do to it as I'm definately keeping it for another year as it has been a dream runner. As me and my missus are expecting our first child in November I'm now relying on the pug to be my responsible family car.... so here's to another year pughumping
Well done and congrats Johnny!

The thing about forums is that people are always looking for help, most threads appear 'cos someone's got a problem, you don't get people starting a thread to say that everything's fine . So don't worry if you look in here and it appears that the 406 has lots of problems, they generally don't and are actually far less troublesome than most other similarly aged cars.

lol i am very pleased with the car and no serious probs but i have a quick look in everyday and i read things and think "yeah my car does that sometimes " or" i have that on mine " from baulky gear changes ( miss 3rd is the solution) to the stepper motor ( which i have cleaned) occasional hunting i am like a car hypochondriac but to repeat happy with the car and the forum is a fountain of knowledge too

cheers guys, and I know what your saying about threads only being here as a solution etc etc. The mechanic did the MOT even said it drove beautifully and he liked it as much as his Landy sport. So yeah a cracking little car
Dreaded MOT test with the new handbrake, and a new cat where the engine mounts had caused the flexi to be chewed through.
Apart from a brief scare where I couldn't turn the automatic lights off it flew through. Didn't mind the non-locking flap, the cap itself was making a seal.
Nice shiny new MOT disc on the windscreen
Soooo might get the mounts done over the summer and keep her, she's starting to grow on me again
