Could be synro in the gearbox on its way out or a worn selector rod?

If the gear selection is fine when the engine is off the problem is connected with the clutch, either cable problems or hydraulic problems depending on your operating system, if there appears not to be any cable or hydraulic issues, the problem probably lies with your clutch (collapsed pressure plate or broken spinner...possible bearing fault as well).

The mechanic who changed my clutch recently said that its normally the clutch plate "dragging"(worn) that makes it difficult to get in gear. Get it checked out soon, or the gear linkages will probably come off and leave you without being able to select any gears. (see one of my posts) Do you know how many miles the clutch has done? Dont use Mr Clutch for a replacemant.
