Well, hello bow & welcome to the show....
You need to let us know what year / model you have, as there's quite a lot of differences. Most important factor is whether you've a D8, (95-99 with slatted grille), or D9, (99-04, honeycomb grille). If you post, or PM your VIN no. we can tell you which set-up it had originally.
Edit Just spotted your other post which makes all of the above nonsense superfluous.
been a long day.....

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Re: stereo wireing
Oh yes, clip the connectors off, so much cheaper than buying an adaptor (for less than a tenner
)
It seems fairly easy to find diagrams for the connectors themselves but as for what colour wire does what...
I even had a squint on the coupe club, it's now full of links that say "we've now upgraded to BBBBBlah blah blah"
If no-one else can oblige I'll break out the knitting needles later and see if we can work something out (you may need to remind me of course
)

Re: stereo wireing
Grab a Haynes. Every wire in the car is numbered, and the number is printed on the insulation making it easy to work out what's what. The Haynes should be mostly right as far as the stereo ISO is concerned, including the numbers.
My suggestion is to nip to Halfords and get a pair of ISO blocks with ~6" leads already attached to the pins. That way you just need to solder+heatshrink each wire (or crimp if you're feeling brave or can't use a soldering iron
). Something like this: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... yId_165626
There are (if memory serves) three wires for VAN bus in the power ISO connector on D9 406s (2x data lines and one +12v power). Leave these disconnected unless you're putting the factory fitted stereo back in!

<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang
