D8 Double Din Touch screen unit fitment ?

Post by 406IT »

Hi Guys - I have recently purchased a Double Din touch screen DVD player from a well known auction site as it was described as not tested - turns out after a little fix its working Fine - Unfortunately for me I thought it was single DIN as only one Pic of the screen - and no model number - Anyway = it is too good to sell again but I want to fit in into my car if possible - 1997 D8 estate - Now from what I have read it wont fit in the radio slot as they are only single din slot but I was just wondering if anyone had installed such a unit and if so How & where? - I was thinking in the gap below the radio where the cigarette tray is with some cosmetic change ? any advice ?

You need to make and fit a cage to hold everything, relocate the centre buttons (hazard light switch, heated windscreen switch, etc), move the climate control up (not going to be possible if it's manual instead of climate control), make a fascia and fit the double din unit at the bottom.

I think there's some pics from someone that's actually done this over on the coupe club.
