multi changer

picked up my d8 406 yesterday
come to put cd's on and i can't get the stereo to change mode to cd
the stereo is the phillips cassette with multi changer in the boot all standard factory fitted
doesn't help the display is not illuminated ( can this be fixed?)
the multi changer loads the discs up ( i hear it doin it's thing) so there is power to it
i put some cd's in 1 way up and others the opposite but nothing???
any ideas any 1 , thanks in advance..

in answer to my own question for future ref i whipped the changer out and stuck it next to the radiator for 24 hrs
it now works lol

i had seen it posted somewhere about condensation so i thought it was worth a try.
it may not have been used in years as people don't seem to realise that they are there

Also read somewhere that its said to work with iphones that get dropped down the toilet when im pericularly drunk.
