radio cutting out

just recentley ive noticed that my radio cuts out for a split seconed now and again and thought "french electrics " but had to use the wifes corsa this weekend and noticed the same thing,anyone got any ideas? or noticed this as well?

Are you listening to AM? Does it still cut out when you're playing CDs/tapes/8-tracks/78s? Loose connectors?

it happens to the radio only as far as im aware and it only happens for a split seconed on fm

It's the radio checking for a stronger frequency. It will check between any local transmitters for the strongest signal and switch to that. Most of the stereo's I've had have done this, and it's much more prominent when living in the countryside as opposed to in the town.
