CD Changer Woes

Post by Bertrum »

Hello all. My CD changer is on the blink and im after some friendly advice if I can.

When you eject the cassette, load it with CD's and replace it all seems well until you try and turn the radio on. The display reads check with the CD stack picture underneath and stays there forever. The CD changer does not make any kind of attempt to read the CD's or anything. It then wont eject until you turn the car off. :?:

Now ive read about taking it to Pug and getting it "synched" but im sure it must be connected/linked because if you turn it on without the cassette in it reads "no mag" and its 100% original in that car and im pretty sure it wouldnt of been removed in its life either.

Please help me I need my CD's back :x

For info its a Clarion RM2 head unit with the Clarion changer and the JBL amp/speakers

Cheers
Ian

Hiya mate, stupid question but you are putting the discs in the right way up?

Find a friendly local member and try their cassette?

I think if it was me I'd try removing it, opening up the unit, lubricating and pivots/slides etc, cleaning, cleaning up cable connectors/earth points etc.

It can't really hurt if it's not working anyway?

Failing this can you plug-in an ebay spare one from another 406?

I seem to remember it's not a problem, so long as the head unit already has it enabled.

Ill agree with you there Welly, its definately going to have to come out for a closer look. Luckily ive already had a tinker with it and know its not bolted into its cradle so should just pull out. Providing i can get it past the surround for the rear light. (hits the metal).

Its a job for when it stops raining though so probably get round to it in April/May.
