control stalk connector

Post by jbh325i »

thinking on buying a new head unit for the 406. it came with a standard tape deck but ive stuck in a cheapo mp3 player for the moment. what im wanting to do is get a decent head unit that i can get to work with the controls beside the steering wheel. thinking Sony or alpine. not sure if the alpine has this function though. so what can ppl recommend or has any one got a connector lying around that could get sold cheap and that would make my mind up

Hi mate,

As long as the aftermarket HeadUnit is compatible with the Stalk, then you can purchase this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PC99-X24-Peugeot- ... 286.c0.m14
So you can control your new HU with the OEM Stalk.

not sure if that one will do mine as mines is a D8 but will send the seller a message and see

cheers for that though bud. been looking at a few sony headunits so i can replace the cheapo one that ive put in there. i had the facia plate from my last 406 still so that was handy ( yes im not new to a 406 but only had my last one a few weeks bought it as a cheap run around while my e30 was off the road then sold it on but planning on keeping this one )

Sorry, kinda hijacking your thread but im in the same situation, Just bought a SONY GT630UI HU and waiting for the Facia to arrive from EBAY,

might be a stupid question but i havnt removed the original unit yet, but is the lead from the control stick on the wheel plugged into the current HU or do i have to go hunting for it???

Yeah, it should be connected in at the back of the HeadUnit.

I've got an interesting twist on this - got my stalk adaptor today & I can't use it - all that was plugged into my standard Pug stereo were the 2 rectangular plugs, yet the stalk adaptor seems to require another small 3 pin plug to connect to it. My friend's X plate GTX has a smaller plug that goes above these 2, but we assume that this is for his cd changer. Couldn't understand it so looked at the original Pug wiring & there were 3 wires going to the plugs which didn't seem to be getting used on the plugs that connected to it from the stereo, so am guessing that these are the stalk controls. Does this mean that my X plate is an early multiplex wired car? Hope that doesn't all sound too confusing.

I have gone thru the same questions and some still remains. I've got a year 2000 D9, and I got confused about the wiring as I couldn't find out where the 'third' plug should go. The is blue green and yellow and has 2 or 3 wires going to it from the loom.

I installed a Connects2 CTDPGS002 - Peugeot 406 Stalk and a Sony MEX3700BT head unit, without connecting the third plug and it seems to work, exept from that the head unit doesn't turn of with appr.30 sec. delay or so after ignition off. As my car is a model 2000, it couldn't be a can-bus installation.

This may be of some help. May also work with D8's as they have the same audio control stalk
