Hi all
I have a 406 HDI 110 2.0 2000 yom W reg and my dad just bought a code reader but its OBD2 and wondered if it was compatible with my car. I havent tried yet as its one that connectd to the laptop and his laptop has had a fit and isnt working.

Probably not mate, diesels didn't have to be OBD2 compliant until 2004. I've tried a couple of 2002 diesel pugs and they didn't work....

Defninitely won't work on a HDi 406, speaking from experience. You can get an ELM32 cable that plugs into a laptop and can read codes. If you do buy one, I can give you instructions on how to read a HDi, the cable is about £20 on ebay.

Its a pity i cannot get hold of the system the aa use not sure what it is but when my car broke down a coupld of times they just plug in some device which i presume is universal of obd 1 and obd 2 and transmits the details to the laptop, what is the best diagnostics software to buy my dad has scantool but it doesnt look that great though i have been looking around and there seems to be some pretty good free software.
