Trip computer not working

Post by Darkchild101 »

What could be the cause of this. You know when you press the tip of the wiper stalk and the trip is supposed appear on the screen thing. Mine when i press nothing is happening. Won't even acknowledge my actions. Just continues to show radio information instead of switching into trip computer mode.

The car is 406 2 ltr HDi 110 year 2000, V reg

Help as its a useful tool to have for fuel purposes

or maybe does car not have trip computer    . This is my second 406 after selling the other one because of problems and the wiper talk and fascia/display look exactly the same as they were the same model

Is there anyway i can check guys

Thanks

Depends what year. Yours is a 2000. My first pug was a british 2000 LX and it had no trip comp. It seems like you don't have one mate. You need to buy one of these bad boys with the button and then get your ECU programmed by a main stealer to tell the car it has a trip comp. Once again, i had it done and its worth it.

Well i bought my stalk off ebay for £20 and the dealer didn't even charge me cos it took about ten seconds to do. One in a million. But i hear they charge around £40-£50 normally. Keep an eye out for a cheaper stalk on ebay and make friends with a dealer.

Its very easy to fit. Two screws underneath to get the steering column shroud off. Then remove four (i think) screws and unclip the cable to remove the stalk.
