Hi all, 406er to be :)

Post by Nitrix »

Hey all!

Im currently looking to get a white 406, if any of you have seen the french films "Taxi" then im sure you know why

Ive always liked 406's and i feel now its the right time to take the plunge and i have started the search.

If you have tips for what to look out for and what to be careful of that would be great. Im looking to make this in to a project which i will of course document here 8)

So im sorry but ill probably be asking ALOT of questions....

Hello and welcome to the site. You've gotta love the Taxi film series! I'm just waiting for 5 to come out now! :cheesy: Got the rest on DVD downstairs. :D

Fairly new to the 406 fold myself, so have a quick scout through my build so far in the link in my sig below, and also in the Pug Pics forum on here.

Welcome aboard!

I've not seen the Taxi movies, but there is mention of them on Wikipedia's Peugeot 406 page, together with a photo of a modded 406.

Personally, I prefer the look of the car as it rolled out of the factory; alloy wheels, new exhaust, and possibly a small spoiler are about as far as I'd go towards changing the external appearance of the car - and I'd happily mod a bunch of cool stuff into the interior (i.e. making all four windows electric instead of just the front two, adding a trip computer, electric seats, new sound system etc), or things that affect the performance of the car (turbo, new springs, etc).

I'm not one for all the massive spoilers, all-over body kits, skirts, wings, etc. that people seem keen on putting on anything that has wheels. I guess I must be getting old early (will be 29 this year)

As for what 406 to get, I'd say go for the Coupe - it's beautiful and powerful - but if you're going to be modding it Taxi style (to do this to a Coupe is virtually a crime in this neck of the woods, I think!), then I'd say go for the any of the more common saloon models. They're cheaper and easier to come by.

As for the mods im looking to do it will be nothing to mad:

Tinted windows

being a major fan of the taxi movies, i see exactly where you are coming from. I would love a nice D9 exec in white with big 18" silver OZ multispoke wheels and a decent spoiler (not mega big, or not too small that it wouldn't make a difference). It would be the 2.2 Petrol engine (ideally the 3.0 V6, but that is too unrealistic in ireland) with a decent sized exhaust at the back that doesn't make any more noise than standard exhausts. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm............
