I bought mine from Eurocarparts, £140 off the top of my head including surcharge for old unit. I know the tubby draws a lot of Amps, have you got a link to the auction Dave?

There's something else you can do with the button to cause the entire system to deactivate
I think by pure fluke and faffing around I ended up disabling the whole lot anyway Matt! I miss the plip though

I've got a horrible feeling the one you've just bought is no good, I reckon the regulator has gone iffy; you'll probably find it puts out 14v over 1500rpm or so. Stick a meter across the battery & rev the engine up to see if you start getting a charge.

Fit? Maybe
Provide enough power for without blowing up? Probably not

The lower rated alternators (apparently) have one less rib on the output pulley so the aux belt won't fit correctly.
Most importantly the tubby exec draws more current than the 1.8 so you'll fry an under-rated alternator.
