Should fit as long as you have the universal ISO connectors (or an adaptor supplied) with the stereo.

Tip: Get a 406 fascia in Halfords for aesthetic purposes. 8)

Hi there;
you will have a problem with the flipout screen unit because with the 406 the head unit is fitted at an angle, not straight fitting like most cars. When the screen is fliptd out the screen cant deploy to its correct position as it would be hitting the heater controls. I had this problem 9 years ago when i fitted an alpine flipout screen into my old 405, to get round it you'll have to bring your head unit out foward slightly so the screen can go to the correct position. but i cant remember how the fitters locked the headunit in that position

The 405's centre console had quite a slope to it I agree but I'm not sure the 406 is so bad?

the stereo 'hole' is angled upwards and the centre console is pretty much vertical, so you're stuck unless you can adjust the angle on the screen so the stereo doesn't try to smash its hinge gearing putting the screen through the heater/cc panel

You can get/make spacer plates which will space the headunit out further so the face will clear. I'm going to look into doing this on my 406 shortly too, but I've got an older Pioneer setup with all the seperate 5.1 surround, DAB, etc.
