Rant rant moan moan.
Just starting to get on first name terms with the AA, my Pug thought it was a good idea to chew up the accessory belt for reasons best known to itself.
So it's at the garage where the same belt, crank pulley etc were replaced about three months ago, seems through reading on t'internet this is quite a common problem.
Is Peugeot French for poo poo? Is there an updated belt, tensioner, idler and crank pulley which stay put? Or I am better off returning to Vauxhall, where it might not be as nice to drive but it'll definately be on the road in another ten years.
Any ideas??

French for poo poo is merde (of course).
Why did it do that? There's been a few cars on here that have had similar problems but it's been different engines, yours is the first 2.1 (that I remember anyway). Anything they did (or didn't) when it was changed?
Good luck with the Vauxhall thing.

Re: 2.1TD Got hungry and ate it's accessory belt
Circumstances made me take it to a PSA "expert" garage three months ago when the crank pulley fell off.
It goes back to them to see if it's "their fault".
But as far as I can see there was no reason for the belt to come off!!!!!

Re: 2.1TD Got hungry and ate it's accessory belt
Did the belt just vanish, or was there evidence of a chewed up belt?
I haven't done many 2.1TD fan belts, but I seem to remember there being a manual adjuster for the belt? If I'm right, the belt tension should be checked after three or four weeks and retensioned if required, the belt could come off if it came loose.
I believe the ones with tensioner faults are automatic, spring loaded tensioners.
If your undertray is missing, it's quite possible that something off the road came up and got tangled in the belt, causing it to get thrown off or chewed.
I recently had a Mitsubishi that got a twig in the belt, chewed the belt, smashed the timing belt cover and wedged itself under the timing belt, causing the timing gears to spin round.

Just had exactly the same on my 2l HDi - turned out to be the automatic tensioner.
Re: 2.1TD Got hungry and ate it's accessory belt
Tensioner, idler, belt and crankshaft pulley ordered, will keep you posted.

Crankshaft pulley, idler and tensioner all fitted. Lets see if it lasts more than 3 months.
