Won't Fit :(
Hi guys I bought a facia Adaptor for my Pug in order to put my Panasonic CQ-C7703 headunit in, quite a nice piece of kit 70w x 4 digital amp not combined but per channel (bit useless am when I get around to it the speakers are getting ripped out replaced with components, infinity 6x9s, amps and a moderately sized subwoofer), mp3 playback, ipod connector, aux in and the bluetooth interface I have make it very function indeed one problem. I took the stock headunit out that gimmicky tape unit was the motorised flap which is quite amusing, put the facia plate in and put the bolts on that back, slide the panasonic cage in and oh dear, the headunit appears to be too long for the slot even though it's standard din and the wires of the back of the unit appear to be hitting the vent/heating pipe at the back. Any idea how to overcome this problem? Also can I swap thing around so the Radio is where the heater Control are or where the switches at the stop are and swap them to the bottom. Any suggestions?

Re: Won't Fit :(
had this with my alpine and found that it was the wires all bunching up at the back of the head unit didn't help that i had ipod adaptors and phone kits etc
ended up having to remove the side of the center console and feeding all the wires down so the head unit could sit in the cage properly
tbh it was a nightmare the hardest bit was having 2 fingers jammed up the space trying to make all the connections and having no give on the wiring

Re: Won't Fit :(
I was thinking about taking the heater controls out and jamming all the wires plus the convertor for the digital amp down the back, what do you mean by the side of the centre console? is there an access panel or did you take the gearstick handbrake and all that out first?
Re: Won't Fit :(
There's very little room behind the heater controls - you won't fit a stereo in there. As for the side of the centre console, he means the plastic to the side of the footwell. Just a few screws to take it out. I think you need to pull the ashtray and gearstick gaiter up to get at one of the screws but don't quote me on that - it's been a long time since I've done it

Holy thread bump batman
but have been trying for 40 minutes to get my new head unit fitted and am having the same problem, by the time the steering stalk adapter is in, the iPod connector, and the mic and everything it's just not happening. Will check out the side panel removal tip after I have had some food

I fitted a changer to my old D8 which included a control box thing that wend behind the head unit, 'twas indeed challening. Ended up forcing down the passenger side behind the plastic panel as mentioned above...
