Nice diagram
It's either low engine oil, or low engine oil pressure. Can't remember which, but you probably need to stick some more oil in

As mentioned on SSC neil, its engine management. (I think...............nice diagram????)
Mine went on when my fuel pressure sensor failed.
Went into retarded mode limiting RPM.
Had to get it on the fault code reader to find that out what was wrong, they tried reseting it, but it wouldn't until the sensor was replaced.
Could be a number of other things aswell.
Assuming that is the light which is on. Think its next to the ABS light on mine.....

To stop the forum being hit by spammers, anyone with a post count under 5 will need their posts to be approved by a moderator/admin before anyone else can see them. A nasty side-effect appears to be that the poster can't see their posts either resulting in duplicate posts. Ah well, if it gets valid users over the 5-post boundary quicker...

The engine management light is yellow/orange with a the electronic symbol for a transistor - frequently called "the K light"

It could be a bosted level sensor, do you have a dashboard oil level display that comes on for 15 seconds after turning the ignition on?
Or it could be a knackered oil pressure sensor (no idea where that is) or even the oil pump (fingers crossed on that!)

Does it say you're out of oil? If not it's probably pressure related unless anyone else can think of anything else

I have my handbook in front of me (2001HDi) the nearest to the drawing is the engine diagnostic/management light, ie, a picture of an engine block with the fan on the left and the flywheel on the right, sump at the bottom and air filter at the top. Most cars use this symbol for the management light, also know as the MIL.
As mentioned, It is orange.

no. it was all the way across to the right this morning. on the dipstick it was 3/4 between the marks last night.
