Dull display on the heater thingy mabob
I recently took out the bit on the dashboard that controls the heating. Yesterday i put it back in and the display is dull, barely readable. Does anyone know whats going on? I check all the wires again and they all seem fine.

It needs bulbs to illuminate the display, they are fitted in the display panel at the sides I think.
It's those little capsule ones and if you managed to get the display out then you'll be able to change them ok (getting the display out is the hardest bit).

Sure I've done a howto on changing these bulbs. Basically if it's a D8 you need to :
1. take the stereo out
2. Undo the 2 screws at the top of the stereo hole
3. Lever the radio/temperature/trip computer display out
4. Pop out the blank to the left of the display's panel
6. Undo the 4 screws in the corners and remove the top panel.
The cc display should pretty much fall out now letting you change the bulb(s). Given how much of an arse it is to get to, I recommend changing all the bulbs if you can afford it. You can get them at Maplins or Halfords for a fraction of the price the dealers want.

Thanks for the help guys. Seems all the bulbs are blown, how the heck did that happen? Went to halfords to get some and i was sort of put off by the price - £1.99 per bulb! pfft... how much are the dealers charging if halfords charge a fraction of the price? Im gonna check ebay for some, or the scrapyard.
