405 1.9TD vs 406 1.9TD

well im sure you will all be pleased to know im not selling my 406 now as im going to need a good cheap commuter still so the 406 fits the bill perfectly, my question though was, why is the 405 so much noticably faster than the 406?.

Because it was noticably lighter?

It's not just a bit though, those 405s fly compared to the 406!!

Something about the 406 - the suspension and the seats I guess - takes the bite out of the engine when you're sitting inside and makes it feel a lot slower than it actually is. Even a 1.9 Astra diesel feels a lot quicker than my V6, but it's not. Not by a looooong way :(
