well im sure you will all be pleased to know im not selling my 406 now as im going to need a good cheap commuter still so the 406 fits the bill perfectly, my question though was, why is the 405 so much noticably faster than the 406?.

It's not just a bit though, those 405s fly compared to the 406!!

Something about the 406 - the suspension and the seats I guess - takes the bite out of the engine when you're sitting inside and makes it feel a lot slower than it actually is. Even a 1.9 Astra diesel feels a lot quicker than my V6, but it's not. Not by a looooong way
