Fitting a Phillips RC026 CD Changer.

Post by tonyp2020 »

Hi all, I'm a new member, and a recent convert to the P406.
I have been driving company cars for the last 20 years, mostly Vauxhall Astra's and Vectra's.
A change of job means that I have bought my first car in 20 years (from Hall Motors on the Wirral).
And car insurance. Damm expensive business, first quotes were £1700 comp, £1100 comp, finally got insured for £500.

I bought a Haynes manual for the car, and was impressed with the weight of it, until I opened it.
Heavy paper, but light on content.

I have a Phillips RC026 CD Changer and would like to fit it to my 2003 406S HDI 90.
The head unit is a Clarion CD/Radio, but it has a CD Changer button.
In the boot is a rectangle Blue Plug where the CD changer should go.
I know the correct one is a Clarion, been looking at them on ebay.

The RC026 has a round 9 pin DIN type socket.
The pins are marked R, G, Acc, DBN, BUP, DBP, G,L.
Obviously R,G,G,L are signal outputs.
But I don't know what the others are or what the corresponding pins are in the blue rectangle.
So is possible for me to make a small adaptor cable to get the Phillips unit working?

Thanks in advance,
Tony

it should be possible to make an adaptor for it but it wont work
the problem is that the clarion unit talks a different language compaired to the phillips changer so although you could make an adaptor plug the changer will never understand what the headunit is asking it to do

there is a company who do adaptors for o/e headunits to alpine and sony changers but as far as i know they don't do anything for philips and probably dont plan too either

sorry mate
