...The car in question is a circa 65k (Full history) with the older engine.
I will have to check oil again. The car had been standing for months before I bought it, and when I checked the oil filler cap there was mayo in there. The oil itself however was nice and clean. I WD'd the Mayo off whilst examining the car then ran it for about 20 minutes thereafter. The cap stays clean and oil seems fine and clear (if not slightly black so probably could do with a change). The top hose doesnt seem to be pressuring, and no pressuring of the water system from initial visual checks and no pressure release when cold (not machine tested it though). Coolant clean, no frothing etc etc.
I am assuming pressure testing the cylinders will be a awkward job on the rear bank???
Have you sorted problem yet ? my v6 has done exact thing ! i've ruled out engine problems as my engine has done less than 6k ! a few years ago i bought a almost brand new rolled xantia v6 (rare) with 1400 miles on it. The engines ended up in my pug only doing another 4-5k since. The other morning it was cold i stalled it a lights and it would'nt start for a minute or so, it also seems to hesitate like you say. When warm its faultless ???
