starting problems (diesel)

Post by ZED »

hi wonder if anyone can help.

my dads car wont start, initially we thought it might be the immobiliser.

the car turns over but just doesn't fire up

the immobiliser shows only a green led after you type the code in and, when you try to start the car there is a clicking in the engine bay,is this the fuel pump opening?

is there any sure fire way of checking if the immobiliser is working

or

does anybody have any idea what the problem could be

my dad thinks it could be the fuel kill switch can you bypass this

Sounds like the immobiliser's deactivated ok. The inertia switch for the fuel supply is located on the right of the bulkhead as you lift the bonnet. Pressing the top of it should reset it.
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

Is this a sudden fault or has it gradually got worse?
Easiest way to check if it's getting fuel is to slacken a pipe at the injector & see if it spills fuel when you try to start it, if you get fuel then next I would check the glow plugs are working.
