1.9td tuning???

Post by dervdoc »

hi guys this is my first propper post so here goes, on owning previous peugeots with the 1.9td engine they where fairly easy to adjust the fuel pump to give more fuel for a bit more poke. to my horror when i lifted the lid on my wagon when i got her i find a cover where the mass fuel screw is, it has the pump immobilizer inside it, is there any handy way of taking this off or getting at the mass fuel screw on the bosch pump as i find my 406 very sluggish compare to my totally standard 405 1.9td i used to have any tips or advise would be much appreciated

welcome 8)
first off the 406 is a good 400kgs heavier than a 405 so you cant really complain about the performance, i had the same issues as you as i came from a 306 1.9, the only way round the cover is to remove the cover and drill out the bolts, but you will need special drill bits and drill guides as the bolts are of the sheer type, or you can try to grind the cover off in-situ, i tried and failed, but i know someone on here managed to do it to replace the stop solenoid

yea that would be another alternitive, there is a indent of a round hole on the plate where the mass fuel screw is so might find some way of coutting into it
