ayup mate,

i had a similer problem with my d9's rear speakers just disappearing, even off the fading settings on the display, left and right appeared as did the rest of it, bass treble etc but not front and rear option. Unfortunatley i narrowed the problem down to be the head unit, replaced it for 50 quid from the scrap yard, just a standard 406 mk2 cd player. got it coded from the dealer, a further 30 quid but at least now me rear channels have come back.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortuantley for me this problem wasnt a quick, cheap fix. Hopefully yours is though mate the only other things you could try ( this didnt work for me, but for yourself hopefully it will ) is take ya head unit out of ya dash, keep the cables in the radio, then locate ya rear channel cables on the rear of ya radio, then with some spare cable make a connection on that channel, ( i temporarily stuffed it down the back of the iso plug to make the connection ) rear right for example, then run the cables externally through your car into the boot then connect it to the right rear speaker, this will test to see if you have continuity in the cars speaker wiring loom, if ya want to try ya luck and try to find the break ya can do, or replace it with the cable you used for testing. it would be quite rare for both channels to go down through a break in both cables, though stranger things have happened

the other method is you could use a multi meter, set it to continuity or the resistance scale, then connect the positive lead, using RR as an example, to the positive cable of the speakers channel on the rear of the head unit, ( you might have to use a small diamiter cable to stuff down the back of the iso plug ) then connect the negative lead of the meter to the RR positive connector to your speaker, this will definetley tell you if youve got a break as the reading will read something like " 1 " , O/C or O/L all meaning open circuit or broke cable.

hope this helps mate, good luck
