HDi FAP Filter...Can it be cleaned???

Post by WelshHDi »

Hi,

I have a message coming up on my car, saying clean the FAP filter urgent, but if so, how can i clean it?? Can it just be pressure washed, or left to soak??? Dont much about them, planning to take it off my car this weekend. Also, will a FAP filter from a 2.0 HDi fit a 2.2 HDi??

Thanks in advance!!

Well, the 2.0HDi has not got a Particulate Filter, it's only the 2.2 engine.

As far as cleaning it goes, neil davies on here has done it (with water) yet a few weeks later he had a problem with the differential pressure sensor (£££££) although it's not clear that this was related.

The nice puggy dealer will do you a 'forced regeneration' exersize whereby the ECU will be made to tell the fuel additive reservoir to inject and clean the filter (using excessive combustion heat) not sure how much they charge for the pleasure though.

I'm not convinced it will be that satisfactory trying it yourself but I will await others responses here too.

Welly.

the 2.0 HDi16 136 in the 307 has DPF, only the 2.2 HDi 406 has DPF, only the dealer can clean it as they have to reset the counter in the ecu and reset the BSi and differential sensor
