Hi friends,
I'm living in Turkey. Me and my wife were planning to buy our first but second hand car about 3 months ago. At last we bought a 2003 model 406 sv 2.0 bva model machine. We like it very much of course. I want to ask you a few questions please.
1- It is a automatic geared car (at 122.000km). It's previous owner said me he completed all maintenances. Can you explain me the scheduling of maintenance periods for motor and gear oil, spark plugs, brake hydrolics (I know the trigger - 80.000 km), any other critical parts, brand names, oil specifications vs vs.
2- Today I cared about oil temperature. Nowadays weather going hot (about 40 degrees C). Meter was showing 140 Degrees C while I was driving at a speed of 150 km/h. Is it normal ?
3- Engine performance seems a little bit low compared to nearly same powered cars. What do you offer me to check in priority. What parts should I have to control.
Thank you very much for your replies in advance

1. servicing in the UK is every 2 years or 18,000 miles on post 1999 petrol models
but this is far too long in my opinion, my car is on this schedule yet i change the oil every 6 months
as for gear oil, as its auto and a very hot climate i would change every 20,000 miles or years, there is no specific interval for this, plugs are every 36k miles along with the fuel and air filter
brake fluid should be changed every 2 years or 72k miles, whatever comes soonest, but i change mine every year as i drive very hard,
2. oil temp at that speed is about right, as its auto it will be pushing it very hard, i would back off and cruise at 100kmh as you will get much better mpg, i can get almost 50mpg at this speed
3. your car is normally very slow, you will have the RFR engine which only produces 138bhp, coupled with a 4 speed auto box its no race car, even the manual (like mine) isnt that great, if you want power get a V6

Thank you very much for reply and accept my apologies for taking long time.
After your explanations I checked the fluid levels and their qualities. Finally I agreed that the all fluids seems to be ok. So I'm waiting for the next 2000 kilometers to exchange them.
I wish everybody to have nice driving without any problem and accident.

You should know that the different countries car manufacturers may have some different applications on their productions. This is my first peugeot and I have never worked on any peugeot car before. In our domestic market there are many kind of cars and I'm very familiar with Fiat, Opel and Ford but not on Peugeot.
