I have a stupid Clarion radio/CD player, the CD player works when it feels like it (like alot of people I know!). The stupid thing is that it will ALWAYS plays the cleaning cd without fail, but rarely normal original perfectly clean CD's - any clues guys?

Yeah he's right Welly, the D9 stereos are coded so that they only work in the car in which they are supplied, makes them anti-nickworthy. If you want to swap between cars you've got to get it re-coded to the new car.
Having said that I'm sure there are independant people who could do this for a fraction of the stealer cost, or you may be able to get hold of one that's been decoded.
The other option is to whip your stereo out and send it off to a specialist for repair.
