Help! My deadlock doesnt like me...

Post by Xanthic »

Hey people, abit of a problem...

I have a 1998 406 1.8 LX Saloon with a deadlock. Something happened the other day and now the back door on the driver's side doesnt open from the inside or out. I have a feeling this has something to do with the deadlock because I didnt put a child lock on and even if I did, the door should still open from the outside.

I have no idea what to do...

WOOOOOO!

I 'fixed' it... kind of :cheesy:

I removed the inside door card/panel and made it look like I knew what I was doing when in fact I had idea, I proceded to pull on the levers which controlled the lock and door opening mechanism and that didnt work. I even took to disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes and also disconnecting the central locking wire which was inside the door... to no avail...

So what I did was use the handle of a long screwdriver and 'tap' the white box inside the door whilst unlocking the car with the central locking which worked :cheesy: From doing this I've gathered that there is something wrong with the deadocking mechanism INSIDE the the door... which I now need to replace. Unless I'm wrong?

NO NEED FOR A MECHANIC! JUST HIT IT!
