Photobucket site - slow?

Post by Welly »

Has anyone noticed Photobucket is really slow? I've got AdBlock running and they still manage to show ads, only now they're asking for $0.99 to remove the ads!

I'm guessing the ads are making it slow and once you pay the fee the site will run better

Not much more than usual, it does seem to fall over when I'm uploading sometimes. Mind you, I didn't upload many pics of late

Crap, I had to add a folder for July and it's almost over

'cor blimey, that took ages :frown: I also noticed some of the uploads restarted a few times. Taking up too much of their bandwidth with advertising?

As well as the adblock, I'm also using blocksite (on Firefox), this seems to work if you use it to block the adverts from their source. Right click on the ad, select "copy link location", paste it into notepad, crop it down to the bare http://www.annoyingbastards.com address, add it in, no more ad. It takes a while to get 'em all but I didn't actually see any adverts while I was on photobucket just now.

Btw there is talk of blocking all flash advertising by default on Firefox, not because it's annoying (visually as well as using up resources, memory, processing power, bandwidth) but because it can contain embedded nastiness that can ruin your day.

Oh ffs, annoying bastards turns out to be an actual website (i should've known  ) selling shoes, of all things, so I guess I should say I am not affiliated to, or in any way associated with, annoying bastards, nor do I endorse, or indeed condemn, their products. Abnormal conditions don't apply. Your shoes can catch fire if you set light to them.
