That's pants, could you take the old one to a local hydraulic company and have one made up?

I was thinking that but I did that with my D8 when the main hose popped, with the result it sounded like a t-rex screaming in your ears every time you turned the wheel. Put the real thing on it, barely audible.

I'd rather have a genuine, brand new part. It's going to cost me, but I just want it fixed and working.

The garage ordered the part, so hopefully it's still available and in stock. Might have the steering sorted tomorrow. Clutch change is still set for Tuesday. Hopefully get a fairly sorted Celica by the end of it.

Fucksticks that's just reminded me of why I fell out with Jap cars after getting stupidly priced parts like that. The £480.00 condenser for the FTO, the £300.00 distributer for the Honda.......FRO!

I would DEFINITELY get a hydraulic hose specialist to make a replacement, sod paying that for a poxy piece of pipe!

Thinking about it, the noise was more like a wookie screaming in your ears than a t-rex.

A bit late now but I dear say that a hydraulic company could have made a superior quality part for a fraction of the cost.

Well that was ... expensive

Still on the sunny side of £1000, but not by much. £970 all-inclusive. Similar in cost to when my Coupe got its clutch changed and the brake servo replaced.

And just like when I had that work done to my Coupe, it's totally transformed his car, for the better. The clutch is light and very precise, and the steering is absolutely direct. The car feels so much better.

The expensive pipe is like this (the photo doesn't do it justice in terms of scale):

It's bent in such a way that it flows around various other engine bay equipment, so it is totally proprietary.

Good to hear you got it sorted :) Nothing like having a car that works as it should.
Hate to say it but I probably could have knocked that pipe up for you in half an hour with some seamless Mil spec ally tube (I have to make hydraulic pipelines for aircraft at work every now and then)
