iPod connection to standard headunit?

Post by Moos3h »

Hi all,

I have the standard 406 cassette/radio in my car and really don't want to swap it because of the displays/remotes etc.

I would, however, like to connect an iPod (a shuffle, as it goes) to the system so that I can have some tunes when local radio lets me down (i.e. ALWAYS!)

Anyone got any great ideas? Does the standard system have an AUX input or should I get one of these 'play through the radio' things?

Cheers,
James

I use one of those cassette adaptor thingies for my mp3 player or for the kids' portable DVD  . I know :? , but I'd rather drive along to a quality soundtrack of Scooby Doo than have the tinny shyte noise in the background when I'm trying to listen to the radio....

Those tape things are NASTY!

The little FM transmitters you can get everywhere give a heck of a lot better quality. Still not CD quality, but reasonable. Personally I'd splash for a new stereo though :)

I use an itrip on my ipod and the sound quality is very good, so i'd go for an FM transmitter.

.......................oh and by the way, those cassette adapters are nasty :cheesy:

Mine seems do to the job ok - then again the AUS spec cars have the different headunits which are non RDS

The FM transmitters suck in places where there are trolleybusses or trams - too much interference!
