Re: Another bargain!
Its a bit expensive for a 205 but i suppose they are fast becoming a classic, and they are still one of the most fun to drive cars on the road.
Re: Another bargain!
Very 'nice..
I used to have a red one back in 2000,in mint condition.
I sold it for peanuts when I finished with it.. iirc it was very thirsty.. replaced it with a mk2 cav 'sri.

I wouldnt mind getting a 1.6 one just for the engine and swap the Fuel injection system over into the 305

Re: Another bargain!
The 75 is a good car, the diesels are excellent ( non of the petrols gasket problems ) and only some electrical niggles let it down.
Thats a lot of car for the money.

Its a car id consider buying in the future, i really like the old boxy citroens. But the XM was very advanced for its time, and doesn't have the rust problems the cx had.

There isn't many cars that will make you money, but keeping an old XM going would be a hobby, it would probably still work out cheaper than playing golf.

I particularly like the way the air duct is conveniently disconnected so you an spray the easi-start in.
Didn't they do a 2.5 diesel or something simular that went quite well, using fuel a little more sparingly than a V6 auto, FFS?
My guess is the low mileage is proof positive that no-one could actually afford to use it.

Re: Another bargain!
There was a 2.5 TD I'm not sure if its the old engine that was used in the 505 and CX or one of the van engines, but the XM also got the 2.1 TD that went in the 406.

I seem to remember the 2.5 diseasel was cr#p for reasons Doggy identified .. and perhaps others.
