Police Order 406 SRi Turbos

Post by P635MWK »

Does anyone know something/anything about a batch of late 1996 SRI Turbos that were supposedly built for a Police order that was subsequently cancelled?

I don't at this moment have the exact number of cars to hand but my father has it somewhere. Apparently there were about 70 registered from around P625 MWK to P695 MWK in a variety of colours and he had quite a choice available when he bought his from his local Peugeot dealer in March 1997. He has a silver one with the blood spatter interior trim.

It's possible I guess but not something that's been discussed before on here to my knowledge.

Some forces i.e. Coventry/Warks used to favour Peugeots but I don't know if they still do after the demise of the manufacturing there.

Based upon the reg MWK, I'm sure they used to use the last two letters as region identifiers, in this case the WK refers to Truro in the West of England.

WK/WL is only new style plates for Truro. Old style numbering ended in AF, RL or CV

In the old style, WK was indeed Coventry, see Welly is a clever bugger!

Bugger, forgot about that but bonus points for suggesting Cov eh?

Finking about it my 406 was a 'CVC' and that was born in that Coventry. Apparently.

Interesting choice of interior trim, given the intended application.

I'm not sure, I tried to kill it but it wouldn't give, I'm in the Midlands and sold it to an extremely nice Frenchman (which was fitting I thought) in fact his mate turned up at mine in a proper French-registered SRi, said very little apart from "Tres Bien" at the end of the test drive :D

It went off to stink out Oxfordshire with its untraceable diesel leakage and never heard from him again, it was T761CVC, or was it 671? anyway it was dee-hablow red on clear sunny days, maroon at all other times. And smelt of diesel.

Received the missing info, they were registered from P612 MWK to P698 MWK - now that is a lot of SRi Turbos, and surely way too many for one force.

They were all petrol, none of this Aga under the bonnet nonsense.

I think he means a 'Diesel Engine' under the bonnet, you know; those dirty smelly and slow plodding things that some cars are fitted with.
