2002 406 remote central locking problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

2002 406 remote central locking problem

Post by bogsdolocs »

Hi there I have recently purchased a 2002 406 hdi 110 estate and to be honest it a fantastic car but when I picked it up the gent told me that the remote central locking stopped working. I have tried all of the re-sync procedures to no avail including resting the bsi. the only thing that's concerning me at the moment is I think the key is programmed and working. if you switch the ignition off and wait a min if you press ether button the bsi clicks but the central locking does nothing. just to add the central locking works fine manually operated. help with this would be much appreciated

Hi and welcome aboard. 8)

That is an odd one, if you can hear the lock / unlock relays operate.
As far as I can tell, when you operate the lock with the key, the lock contacts provide a signal to the BSI, which then closes the lock or unlock relay to work the other door locks.
The r/c signal also tells the BSI to lock or unlock. Odd thing is, it uses the same fuse, same relays etc to work the doors locks, whether triggered by a key in the lock, or the r/c.

Does it behave the same way with all doors?

hi thanks for the reply. key in the locks everything works as it should. the click that I am hearing from the bsi when operating the remote is not the same as the clicking you get from the bsi when you operate the central locking, its like the bsi is telling the central locking to operate but it just doesn't
