Best 406 HDI Estate.

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I have had a 2001 GLX estate for nearly 4 years now and it has been brilliant. Its covered over 220.000 miles and has never gone wrong until just recently when water got into the electrics. The seats in the GLX have a lot of adjustment and I find them very comfortable, the ride is good for the sharp handling it has although not as good as my C5. Driven gently it will exceed 60 mpg and will genuinely do 1000 miles on a tankful.

I would say stick to the 2.0. engine, they are very simple and reliable, the 2.2 is faster but uses disproportionately more fuel. I have a 2.0.Hdi C5 which will average 50-60mpg but the best I could get from the 2.2 was about 40mpg.

Mines a Hdi90 2.0 Siemens, wouldn't have one again. Runs like poo and difficult to get mapped etc.
Go Bosch
