Good evening my first post here and I hope you guys can help me out.
Firstly my problem, iv got a 406 estate rhz 110 had 146000 miles on it when I bought it 6 months ago. iv done 4000 miles in it and for the last 1000 it's had no turbo till about 3000 revs but intermittently. also which cud be relevant it sounds like there is leaking air from the engine under high revs. There are no engine lights on the only other problem I get is intermittent charge fault.
now I did some research and I thought full service Inc fuel filter might help. But still the same did some more research and read on here about map sensor I've changed that but still the same. I've now had it plugged into a machine which gave up 4 fault codes mainly to do with high and low pressure to the turbo. I took a pic of the faults on my phone but to be honest I'm at the end of my ability with this. After reading about defrapping and remapping to solve issues like this im getting a bit intimidated :-) anyway the codes 0230 0230 0235 and 1517.
any help with this would be much appreciated I don't think I'm gunna be able to do this my self so if anyone can recommend someone near scunthorpe north Lincolnshire who could help that would be great
thanks in advance

Re: rhz turbo lag diagnostic
Good, er, morning
I wouldn't worry about def(r)apping, your car almost certainly doesn't have a fap (unless you know different) and a remap would probably just add to your problems right now.
You should really clear the fault codes and see which (if any) come back. The ecu will store codes for everything, even stuff that's been fixed long ago.
P0230 Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction - probably irrelevant as your engine's running.
P0235 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit malfunction
p1517 - something to do with the immobiliser?
Also, there's a lot of ducting around the engine from the turbo to the intercooler to the inlet and there's always the chance something is split. This might account for the sound of air leaking...

Hi & welcome aboard.
I agree with steve's assessment, you probably have a boost leak somewhere.

Re: rhz turbo lag diagnostic
Sounds very much like an air leak in the turbo piping (feeding the engine). You'd really need to get the engine undertray off (if it's still there
) and carefully go around all the joints looking for loose/leaking connections or damage, starting at the turbo unit.
Normally when you have a leak then a lot of oil can leak out with it so don't be alarmed it's ok. Sometimes the intercooler (small radiator up front) can crack/leak and again will end up covered in oil.
If you're not happy doing this yourself then a good garage will be able to do a 'smoke test' where they literally force smoke into the engine's inlet and watch for smoke leaking out - this is very useful indeed and doesn't cost much.
To be fair when my intercooler hose blew a hole the noise was shocking (like a jet engine) and people would turn around in the street
your leak may well be nearer the turbo and so can't build up any real pressure.

Re: rhz turbo lag diagnostic
Right thanks every1 some useful info. I'm pleased I don't have to worry about the defrapping and remap. We cleared the faults and got the same 4 back after we retested. could I ask welly if he got an engine light on when you blew your hose? I have no light, am I right in thinking no light means its a minor fault? the reason I ask is I've booked in at a delphi agent near me who's charging 45 pound per hour. I don't wanna do this if I can use a normal garage for a smoke test.
well I got till Tuesday to sort it out myself so I'm gunna have a go at the weekend see if I can find a leak or damaged pipe. I don't suppose any of you fine forum members would have some pics of what I'm lookin for it would help a lot. I've been using parts box but I can't find a diagram of the complete turbo system only little snippets. thanks again everyone

Re: rhz turbo lag diagnostic

This one should cover it. Depending on the age of your car, you will either have the simple air pipe, (5) OR the air doser, (12) and air pipe, (13).
Never had a 110, but I think the air doser was introduced around 2001.

Re: rhz turbo lag diagnostic
I did get the engine light up sometimes but not always (restarting the engine sorted it) my bottom hose blew (No.3) but like I said it was *really* loud.
