Instrument Panel (global test) faults

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Instrument Panel (global test) faults

Post by 406HDi3 »

Hi.
I've a 2001 2.0 HDI estate and I plugged in diag box earlier today and found a few faults that cleared nicely except these. Could someone please advise?

Instrument Panel
- Remote intermittent fault: Engine speed information. Incorrect value received.
- Remote intermittent fault: Coolant temp info. Incorrect value received.
- Remote intermittent fault: Vehicle speed info. Incorrect value received.

Help?

See these all the time on various cars, don't worry about them.

Unless you actually notice your panel misbehaving, or they become permanent faults, you can ignore them.

They're intermittent: just clear them.
As jonsowman says, these are normal!

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

I saw the same on my car (just DiagBox working yesterday), and was surprised it reported faults on all these things but *not* the fuel gauge which I actually do have trouble with (sometimes sticks about half-way, which I hear may be bad solder joints?).

Other faults to ignore are;

Pre-ignition relay, which is normally just glow plugs which are not really needed in an Hdi
Most intermittent faults - some can be triggered by a blip when starting, low battery, speed bumps.....

If you tinker too much you may get in trouble.... :(
