did you try plugging the fuel return,?

get a small piece of pipe put something like abolt in the end of it or piece of tree branch ( blank off fuel return on pump)

then see if it will pump out,

it might not work its just an idea.

Sounds like a very good idea, let me go try do that !, in the meantime, any idea on how to get the pump out at the back, i've loosened the retainer that holds the pump down, but the hole where the pump is located in the body of the car is smaller that the retainer holding the pump down, now the retainer loose as it is is preventing me from lifting out the pump out the hole.

Man why they have made it like this is just dazzling..... or am i doing something wrong ?

It's as if they did it on purpose so one cannot take out the pump from inside the car, perhaps i shoud grind the hole bigger, no way i'm going to be able to take out the whole tank from the car...

some people resort to cutting the metal and bending in back alittle to make enough room
for it to come out,

it can always be coverd afterwards so dosent cause any issue's.

thanks lozz i guess thats my only option, this is going to take a while, with all the fumes is it ok to just put it all back and do the test you just mentioned, by closing the one inlet with pump on.

Did you take the cap off of the tank? I'm not sure why it would create a vacuum, it's beginning to look like you'll have to take the pump off just so you know what the hell is going on with it :(

ithink with it having a tiny bit of fuel in (1litre plus 500ml water)
its just returning air, so pump might not be doing its job.

that's why imentioned blanking off return not sure if thatd work either.

last resort wouid be dropping hose pipe down tank me thinks,

thank you both, no i did not take the cap of the tank, will try that too thanks,

I think if both of your suggestions is not working, it might be that something is clogging the pump...? i really hope it's that, rather than for it to be broken... :( i read a small article on car pumps, and they say if it makes a loud noise, it's not in good shape, but mine is not making a loud hum. just purring like a kitty.... let me try your suggestions, and if that fails, if wil try bend the retainer to get the pump out, going to take a while, also to make sure no debris falls into the tank as i take it out as it was full of dust, and i'm still dazzled as to how all that dust got on top of the fuel pump.... thanks will report back when done.

Ok, i tried siphoning with the inle closed and as well as with the fuel cap open.

Again a little fuel spurted out as i suck hard, but nothing more, the retainer is bent beyond recognition, how i'm going to get it to work again is going to be a head scratcher.

Thanks this is just an update so long, i haven't pulled the pump, i'm going down now to do so.

So long for testing purposes, we had so many posts in between, do you guys still no what is the plus and minus on the pump for the 12 volt so i can put a battery on it ?

if you've bent the retainer and fuel pump isn't sealed

don't try to feed any power to it, you need it sealed first,

if your removing pump you might as well empty the tank whilst its out.

then go back to the pipework and see if you can get any fuel/water out of them,

refit pump and put clean fuel in, (cross fingers)

ok here's the pump, at a glance except for the fuel guage meter which seems worn (i haven't had a proper fuel reading in years haha) the pump seems fine, filter seems clean, and there's petrol inside it, however, is it hard to dissemble it ? can you guys walk me through or would it be too much work ?

pictures attached.
