Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
No, I don't think you're missing anything. The old copper washers have been squashed between the bottom of the injector and the head, they will deform and tend to grip the injector. All that matters is that you get an effective seal between the bottom of the injector body and cylinder head, the copper washer will mould itself to fill the gap as you tighten the nuts holding them in. Be good to have a tightening torque, but in any case do up until you feel some resistance, then tighten each nut by one flat in turn, to allow the washer to be squeezed evenly on both sides.

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
Eric, I only have a single bolt, which bolts a bracket, which is then attached to the injector, pushing it down. It's pretty much as tight as it will go and I am scared of threading the thing!

Sorry Alex, assumed it would be the same as a 2.2.
Someone else must've changed one on a 2.0 - jasper?

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
No probs. I am guessing your injectors will be the same as in my 407, though.
Just to show you what I meant - here are the injectors and the bracket with a single hole.

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
Are you sure the pipe feeding the injector isn't leaking or leaking from the leak off pipe seals.
Is the injector seal seat nice and clean?
D9406 was quite correct to warn that if the seat isn't good you will need to re-cut it using a special tool, although I've never needed to do this.

Fairly sure that it's not the pipe but I'll take it all apart tomorrow again and see what's what.... I just want rid of this car nowjasper5 wrote:Are you sure the pipe feeding the injector isn't leaking or leaking from the leak off pipe seals.

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
You were right, John. It's the injector union that's leaking. I put some paper towel around the pipe and that's where it leaked from. I did it up as tight as it went and ran the engine for 5 minutes idling. Seems OK but the real test will be driving....
Can you get seals for these or is it yet another new injector time?

From memory, I'm sure the screw in part is on a taper. (arrowed)
Try slackening the injector pipe nut then tighten the inner part then tighten the nut, usually the nut gets tight, but the inner threaded part is loose.

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
Yep, that's what I did. It seems to be leak free from a few revs and idling... fingers crossed!jasper5 wrote:From memory, I'm sure the screw in part is on a taper. (arrowed)

Doggy, maybe that's your issue as well?

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
Getting back to mine, after a fruitless search, I'll have to make up another leak-off rig.
Plugged in PP2K this afternoon, no engine faults or unusual readings, but injector correction values are marginal, (2 almost zero and 1 each at around + and - 1.0 to 1.5).
Treated it to the dose of injector cleaner I've beem promising for a month or two....
If it's an injector issue, it's nowhere near as bad as the one I had on the original dogmobile, (that had a very uneven tickover and wierd MAF values that reduced when you raised the engine speed a little from tickover).
To recap, with it idling cold or hot, there is no sound, smell or visual evidence of any leakage at the injectors.
I'm pretty sure I'm not imagining something amiss, as after driving Sonia's the other night, mine feels gutless pulling out of junctions, slipping the clutch in 2nd. Other than that it drives perfectly.

What is a "bad" value for an injector correction?

Re: Loose injector / leaky seal?
I've read of someone once running the engine and pouring a little water in the recess where the injectors sit then if there is a slight leak of fumes it should be detectible, not sure how suitable this is though.
Also, Peugeot did at one stage refine the torque setting for the injectors due to minimal leaks i believe

+/- 2.5 is regarded as 'not good', over 3.5 you would feel it, when i replaced my injectors one of the old was was at 4, one at 5.5benczuk wrote:Question:

Well on mine over 3000rpm it shook like i needed a driveshaft replacing!
On a Coupe i worked on a few months back they were so bad when the car was warm it visibly shook on idle, but was smooth at 2000rpm
