Hi chaps.
On Wednesday I got a phone call from an old friend
Can you shift your car out of my yard..

Well anyway its been there afew years now forgot all about the thing,

Its last of the veccys type b late 02 reg 2.0 DTI,
It was a total pig to get running ..but in the end i Got it fired up on brake cleaner.it wouidnt entertain easy start ../problem is now its dumping oil back into the header tank
There's no water mixing with the oil,
The header tank is pure engine oil, no water.. if that makes sense,

Am I right thinking oil cooler,

I was going to weigh the car in but my lad has decided he wants it, but I've got to fix it

don't know on DTi's but 2.5 v6's did this if the oil cooler went.

It's difficult to believe you wouldn't get any water in the oil, even if you can't see it.
I'd be worrying about main / bid end bearing problems a few months down the road, (I've got that tee shirt too).

The engine didn't get left running long maybe 10mins or so.
It was OK before it was laid up in the yard..

It was a ex plod /bacon car so engine had been looked after

Told my son to by pass the oil cooler and if its that I will buy a new one for him.

I by passed the oil cooler,
And flushed all the oil out the pipe work.
All was well for 30 mins or so, checked the dipstick and it was on min/
Its dumping back the oil still,

No rough running/overheating or smoke
Carnt work out why its dumping oil back.. or from where,

No water is mixing with oil, it pumping pure oil from the sump straight into the header tank.
The coolant iput in as worked its way. Round the c/h and then disapeard

If the oil coooler's truly bypassed, (oil & water), the only possibility I can think of is a head/head gasket problem.

Took pipes off and run them straight too the head
The two pipes on the oil cooler I've looped and jubilee clipped
It pumps oil out otherwise,
Flushed it twice today and its just fired oil back too the header tank,

Its on a timing chain so idont fancy taking the. Head off
Not worth it.. so I will throw it back in the corner of the yard one day the turbo or something will
Come in handy off it or something.

I sorted it ..
Instead of looping a pipe on the oil cooler I just blocked off each pipe
Bolt in the end of the pipe,

I think there's more than the oil cooler gone,

I'm thinking o-rings,
I will order anew oil cooler now know its not the head
96 quid for a new one.

Spent 2 hours flushing out .. dishwasher liquid did the trick..

We worked out the oil cooler was needed,
Engines don't last long with ought them'.

Not harsed about the car tbh,
Going to take a month or so to get all the oil off the driveway...
