Sorry if this has been posted before.
I have just bought a 2002 Rapier and I have had to change the aerial (Internal breakage). Reception has improved but could be better. I would like to remove the Radio and give it a good clean (Contacts etc)
This is where the problem is, I have searched high and low and cannot find the code for the radio. Documentation was supplied with the car but I can't find any record.
Is there a way of reading back the code before I disconnect.
I know from a previous post on another website for another older old car (different make), I was accussed of being a thief and nicking the Radio, but there must be a way I can prove the car is mine (Scan of Registration Doc) before the info i need is given out.
Anyone able to help
Cheers
Richie

Hiya mate, what sysyem is it?
AFAIK all the D9 have radios which are "programmed" to recognise the car's individual ecu, so they won't work in any other 406 without being reprogrammed by a main dealer to talk to the new car. That being the case you don't need a code, I certainly didn't have any trouble when I disconnected my battery recently.
Anyone confirm I'm not talking bolox please before Richie goes ahead?

From first hand experience I can say Dai's bang on about the coding of the later multiplexed cars, which yours would be.
As for you radio reception problem, taking mine out and making sure the aeiral cable was firmly plugged in cured terrible trouble I had with my radio.

Pushing the connection on more securely certainly worked for me, and the car's 4 year old.
As for aerial angles, I think all D9 aerials are at a fixed angle, mine is. I think most cars would have a fixed angle aerial these days.

Yeah mine's fixed angle too, the one on my D8 wasn't though, and you could dramatically improve the reception by standing the aerial straight up. Unfortunately though, if you did that you couldn't hear the radio at more that 30mph 'cos it was drowned out by the wind noise produced by that mahooosive whip aerial standing erect right above your head
even worse if you had the sunroof open
