Unknown Lock In My Boot

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Unknown Lock In My Boot

Post by fonzig »

Hi guys, this is my first post here so please be gentle!!!

I've had my 406 Executive D8 for about a year now with no probloms (touch wood) but while hoovering out the boot this morning I came across a lock on the offside rear of the car, just behind the light cluster.
The lock is inside the boot, when I brought the car the owner said he had an extra key with it but he didn't know where it fitted.

All this seems to do is: set one way, when I deadlock the car with the small button on the keyfob, it just locks.

When set the other way it deadlocks the car and then the car emits a loud "BEEP".

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks guys

If memory serves (I haven't found it on my car!), it tells you in the handbook that it's to deactivate the alarm so it doesn't sound when you disconnect the battery

...or maybe I imagined it, I can't be sure

Mjb is right, its to turn off the self powered siren to avoid the thing going flat when you disconnect the battery...

If you lose the key, a flat blade screw driver works just as well..........LMAO

If you cant find it then the cover must still be on yours Mjb, its got a cap over it from new and you have to pop it off !
