EGR Blanking!

Post by Bailes1992 »

Anyone thinking of doing this just do it!
Done my Mondeo this morning. It has a massive flatspot under 2000rpm and can be a little laggy when you want to get moving!
It's superb now, pulls like a petrol! Foot down and off you go!

What's that a picture of Bailes?

Can't be an EGR as it's clearly in an easy to access place! Unlike the ridiculous position it is on my XUD...GGRRRRRR!!!!

That's the pipe between the exhaust manifold and the inlet manifold.
The EGR is placed right on top of my engine next to the inlet manifold 8)

Excuse me Sir, but let's look at the figures...........

A 2003 2.2 HDi spews out 168 CO2's and my Volvo 208 CO2's (and mine smell nicer) so I'm emitting 24% more than you however I drive no more than 8K per year and you do 18K? so, Sir, it is you who pollutes our countryside not me

I am of the firm belief that the only reason EGR valves coke up is because people drive their cars like old women. Get the oil nice and hot and then give it a proper bootfull, all the way to redline at least once a month. In the old days, this was called an "Italian tune up" and it really does work.

Drive like an Italian, and you'll more than likely never face EGR problems.

Never had any EGR problems. I also live by the saying "A redline a day keeps the mechanic away".
But blanking the EGR valve has made my engine much smoother, much more eager and better to drive.
