Long time reader here, who has learned so much from the quality contributions made to this board. Thanks!
I have been lurking here since June. Decided to register, so that I may share my loving relationship with my 406 2.2 Hdi

Unfortunately I had to park her in my garage today and jack her up. On cold starts she is rough and rpm's fluctuate 100rpm, and makes unsettling noises. When she's driven above 1500 rpm there is rattling from the aux belt area. I'm fairly certain that the crankshaft pulley has seen its last days. So it's time for some quality time with my baby

Currently I am sourcing the parts and am having trouble deciding which price segment/brand to choose. For example for timing belt kits, there are probably 10 different brands to choose from ranging from 65 to 120 Euros such as Bosch, Febi Bilstein, Gates, Contitech, etc. Can I choose the cheapest kit? Or, should I purchase only certain brands? Are all these kits just the same product, simply repackaged and rebranded? Or, is there truly a quantifiable quality difference between the kits?
I appreciate all comments.
Cheers!
