Redundancy advice

well ive been to today's meeting and they were looking for 1 voluntary redundancy, I in my infinite wisdom said i would take mine
my payout is the bare minimum plus 3 moths severance pay, so nowt specila but should keep us going for 5-6 mionths if need be.
I suppose the good thing about this is i can now go to the doc's and get this umbilical hernia sorted that ive had for the last couple of years.

What a f*cked up world we live in, lets see some examples. my wife has two male cousins who's main aim in life is to play dungeons and dragons and wank themselves silly in the bedroom. Neither has done a days stint since leaving school.
They played the jsa card for as long as possible and now their earning good money claiming esa for agrophobia whilst happily wanking away.
Two perfectly fit young lads without an ounce of work in them.

Then there's myself who worked his gonads off until the near fatal night of exorcist like blood vomiting... even after that i was ready to go back to work after a few months treatment and rest but the doc wouldn't sign me off so it was redundancy time on ill health grounds then on the sick. And the last 17 months fighting to stay on it.
Wanted to work.

So when you think about it the jsa system is not set up for the good people who want to work and neither is the now esa system geared up for the ill people who are actually ill.

Trem, you could pull a sicky just before your last few days in work and maybe get a few months esa especially if you can get that hernia done quickly? I'd imagine that's 6 weeks recovery in itself?

I think kids maybe have it all too easy now, in my yoof (here we go) I wanted to work so I could earn money and buy things - my first month's wage went on a brand-new Mountain Bike so I could cycle the 6 miles to work everyday, and yes when it rained I got wet I then saved and saved, had driving lessons, and bought myself (and insured myself) a car - it was a shitter but it was mine.

I suppose one thing has changed in that there's not the amount of jobs around as there used to be (all school leavers in the late 80's walked straight into a job no problem) but I maintain if you want to work you'll find something - it's all about applying yourself to the task in hand (pardon the pun).

the kids have got it easy or atleast ithink so but after giving my oldest two lads a lecture, they dont seem to see it that way,
one of them keeps dropping out of college and courses and stuff, hed sooner doss around the town centre like a chav,
comes home does feck all and raids the fridge,

the other one wants too be chained too his bird all day, There like apair of jack russels,

there was nothing like that for me at there age, (pay your rent or get shown the door so it was, and that was at 16.
things have changed now, there the parents responsibilty got too spoon feed them till there 19 -20

while we're telling the old old stories back in 86 when i was 13 i was the local window cleaner in my village i took my grandfathers retired old wooden ladders and went out to earn a crust... You wouldn't hear that these days.
