Re: Pug 508s
My boss has one, very good fuel economy by all accounts.
Personally I'd pay the extra road tax for the 2 litre and a normal gearbox. The 1.6 e-hdi has flappy paddles which screams expensive repair and the gear shift is quite lumpy in full auto or flappy paddle manual.
Goes quite well considering the engine size if you're looking for an economical car to pootle about in but it is a bloody big car for a 1.6 diesel engine, can't see it lasting long.
It is a very nice looking car tho, looks wise the estate in black for me.

We had alook at a new one in Flint Metalic nice motor,
plan was too pay a chunk off it in cash and the rest on finance
but after checking the price of insurance ,
its not affordable,
the 508 is expensive to insure,
iwill get christmas out the way and then see what bargains there are out there,
the plan of a brandnew car aint gonna happen,

The Mondeo is getting the 1 litre EcoBoost engine next year, and I can see that being fun
The engine seems noisy under load in the outlaws Focus, so can only imagine what it will be like in it's bigger bro

It'll be fine - they got 1500 bhp out of a 1.5 porsche F1 qualifying engine back in 1984 - (sometimes they would even last a whole lap).

Have you driven the 1.0 Focus Plod?
What an awesome engine!
Revvy as a normal 1.0 yet feels and sounds like a turbo'd V6!
I think it's defo on my list for my next car!

Re: Pug 508s
Thought you might say that! After driving yours I would quite like one, and I can afford to have a Coupe since practicality isn't an issue right now.Doggy wrote:You know it makes sense.
Good condition HDis are still a bit on the expensive side, and I can't afford it just yet, so I'm thinking around this time next year I will look at changing.
I doubt my 2.1TD will sell for much, if anything, sadly

Re: Pug 508s
Lozz, you were looking for a car with an autobox - the 2.2 HDi Coupe never came with one; they're all manuals. Same with the 2.2 petrol; no autobox available.
If I were you I'd avoid the 2l model and go for the later-model V6 auto - ES9J4S engine and the ZF gearbox (the 2.0 autos all came with PSA's own AL4 autobox which isn't as good).
This one is the full SE model (leather interior, all the toys), and has just had its cambelt changed 1000 miles ago:
