Well done that man! Don't forget to get pics up! 8)

I know what Sam's saying about the spec though, the R-Design seems to be their attempt at being sporty, a bit like the old SRi or GTE or specs from years ago. I always preferred the "old man luxury" versions, hence my SE lux. Saying that it's impossible to buy a fully loaded Volvo straight off the spec list, even the top of the range needs loads of optional extras to match the spec of some other brands.

Tbh iwasnt to botherd about the spec. its just that inoticed the R-desighn as side skirts so ithough frig it iwill go for one of them
and there wasnt much diffence in prices
wont be doing much with it, first job ithink is get rid of the badges off the back and do something with the chrome mirror covers im not a fan of chrome ,

it will be the last car for me, decided thats it no more old cars, all my tools are going on ebay had enough of cars now

To be honest there's a problem with the prices of the V50 and S40 and I think it must be to do with the size of the car. The Estate isn't very useful and the Saloon is quite small so it's a difficult car to suit everyone (you may as well buy a Hot Hatch or equally a Big Estate if that's what you need). I dread to think what money I'd get for mine so I'm going to keep it and get some use out of it.

Here it is:

I don't know but that rear subframe is used on the Mazda 3, and the Focus so is kinda 'universal'. It's too far forward to be for a tow bar.

Tbh it took me a while to spot the holes. Mind you, I'm probably lucky to see the pic at all - I've just been cleaning out the carb from my leaf blower wearing glasses and using a magnifying glass and I still had problems :( (blocked main jet now cleared, shame about the pipe I bust taking it off  )

I've sussed out what the holes are for and why you can't have a tow bar fitted.... The new Volvo's are fitted with one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-Exper ... 2ec1c3b279

It's the only explanation for two reasons.
1: my mate has the Peugeot partner disabled van and can't fit a tow hitch.
And.
2: Dai's 12 plate Volvo has these weird sliding things in the boot now he says their for luggage but I'm now convinced it's a winch for the wheelchair ramp.

There was no sign of the ramp but i recon he took it out to avoid the embarrasment.

Yep thats it... My head hurts now.

Lozz - has your S40 got HID xenon headlamps do you know?

Reason being is the standard 'projector' lens with standard Volvo long-life bulbs are rubbish (really rubbish) the very first thing would be to swap the bulbs for something like Philips X-treme Vision (what I'm waiting to arrive as we speak) or Osram Nightbreaker Plus. These will make the headlamps at least 50% better and you can even go one more and have the beam lifted on an MOT machine as Volvo seem to set the beam angle very low as standard (falls just a few metres in front of the car on its highest setting  ).

Just thinking, with the Clocks going back you'll be driving in the dark almost straight away.

Thanks....yeah, it's been 3 years :D

He has a graduation ceremony in March at Daventry and gets to visit the Volvo factory in Gothenburg next May.

He gets to keep the tool kit that Volvo supplied as well.

BTW, the S40, V50, and C70 are all being discontinued as well.
