rear tyre scrubbed

hi all iv'e scrubbed 2 sets of rear tyres on the inside. i have heard this is a problem on the 406. what is the remedy plz
i know its in another subject but i don't know how to erase it. thanks anyway

you need to find a 4 wheel tracking center and have the rear tracking ajusted

And while you're looking in that area, you may need to check the rear stabiliser arms (perhaps they are called track control arms too). If they are worn, they can allow some movement of the rear wheels as you rock the wheel back and forth as if you are checking a wheel bearing for play.

I had the arms replaced on my old estate (do saloons also have these rear track arms?) and although the bolts and eccentric washers went back in the same position etc, it scrubbed the rear tyres in no time at all! 4 wheel alignment and all was OK.

Mine always wore the NSR unevenly, outside edge though, I always figured it was to do with the way she "leaned" into roundabouts... :oops:
