Samsung Galaxy SII Bluetooth problem

Post by DaiRees »

Hiya dudes, anyone know how to make a Samsung Android phone "forget" a bluetooth paired device?

Here's the issue, I paired it to the car and it was working fine, connecting automatically each time and all that, but yesterday the phone updated itself to Android 4.0.4 and now it won't connect automatically. If you try to connect using the controls in the car it fails, but if you open the bluetooth settings on the phone the car is listed there as a paired device, press that and it connects straight up. I figured I'd delete the pairing from both devices and start from fresh, no probs in the car but the phone won't let me delete the car from it's paired devices list, you can unpair it but it stays in the list, you can't completely delete it.... So I think the solution lies in making the phone "forget" it's paired devices so that I can re-pair from scratch, an ideas how to do this??

Cheers :)

on my s1 you go into bluetooth devices and press and hold the 'paired' device you want to unpair, that opens up an unpair button and you just press that.
that seems the way with the daughters s3 as well so hopefully should work on the s2

On my HTC Sensation (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich), it is ever-so-slightly different.

On the list of BlueTooth devices, each device has a "settings" button (looks like three slider switches) on the right. Press that one, and it shows you a menu with an "Unpair" option. Hit that, and it takes you back to the list of BT devices, with the one you just unpaired now being missing.

Yeah that's the problem, it's unpairing fine but it's staying in the list and so retaining the settings. I need to delete it completely so I can re-pair as if for the first time...
