It seems hoooooooooooge next to my old 3" Tomtom One.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
I used to have Ozzy on my Tomtom, he was amusing... for about 3 corners. In fact the only ones I could tolerate for any length of time were John Cleese and Joanna Lumley.

Nice, I like the newer sat navs with the early 'picture' of the lanes ahead.
I was talking about sat-nav guidance at the weekend and we concluded that, although brilliant, it takes all the thinking away from you and you almost get to your destination without a clue. My Tom Tom is fairly recent and takes some pretty mean short cuts to the point of me thinking "where the hell am I?" and suddenly it drops you right on the doorstep
Cars in my care:
2021 Kia Spottage 1.6 Pez Turbo Dual Clutch Gearbox Trickery
2013 Renner Twingo - donkey work
The sat nav I borrowed off my bro looked like that, I only borrowed it last year for driving to the UK and back - bluddy brilliant! Driving across Yerup it was one less thing to worry about, previous navigation has involved something printed out on 1 page of A4 from Giggle maps, giant maps unfolded everywhere so you can't see where you're going or big books of maps that hardly show any details. The couple of times I took a wrong turn it imminently recalculated like nothing had happened. I was kind of sorry to give it back but it only covered major routes in Croatia (it was funny when we turned off to the village here and the display showed us heading off across a field )

Yup
Flank fluk for that, i thought it was just me. i've been to Tenby hundreds of times theres no way i'd get lost unless i had to go across country for some reason but i still use it to see how far off a junction, motorway exit or roundabout i am... Thought i was just being anal.
There is also the speed camera function.

I found some not HGV sat-nav software on the web a while back, not exactly legal but I didn't need them anyway.
Did raise the question of whether they are brand specific, keep meaning to try a different os in my no name cheapy sat-nav just to see if it works. Never sure if the sd card in it handles the os or just the maps.
Anyone tried it?
